Since 1996, Dr. Peter Carroll has served as Professor and Chair for the Department of Urology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He also currently directs the multidisciplinary Urologic Oncology Service with cancer specialist Dr. Eric Small. Dr. Carroll has fulfilled several academic positions at UCSF including Chief of Urology, Associate Professor and continues to be the program leader for Urology Oncology Program at USCF/Mt. Zion Cancer Center.Dr. Peter Carroll is an expert in managing urologic cancers and innovative methods of urinary tract reconstruction. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California at Berkeley before attending Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. His general surgery training was at UCSF, where he completed his urology residency. Dr. Carroll also completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before returning to the UCSF Department of Urology.Dr. Carroll is an active member of numerous professional medical societies, including the American Urological Association, the American College of Surgeons and the American Association for Cancer Research. He received the Cahill Award for his performance in surgery and the Kober Award for the highest record of achievement in the graduating class. He has also written and co-authored over 170 publications and is principal or co-investigator of several research studies.
