Dr. Brown is a full-time faculty member of the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. He is a Professor and Chairman of the department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and Interim Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Brown also serves as Co-Director of the University of Miami Tissue Bank and has a secondary appointment in the Department of Neurological Surgery.Dr. Brown is an expert in low back pain disorders. His research interests included: Disc Herniation, Spinal Stenosis, Spondylolisthesis, and Sciatica.Dr. Brown received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed an Internship and Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.Dr. Brown is a member of many medical societies, including the following; American Medical Association, American Academy of Orthopaedics Surgeons, International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, and the Orthopaedic Research Society.Dr. Brown has received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Alumnus Award, College of Graduate Studies, Thomas Jefferson University, the Arthritis Foundation’s Dr. William E. Burkhalter, Sr. Memorial Award for Excellence in Orthopaedics, the Eastern Orthopaedic Association Award for Spinal Research and a Traveling Fellowship from the Orthopaedic Research Society.Dr. Brown has more than 71 scientific papers published as well as contributed to nine books including one of his own. He is constantly teaching new knowledge based upon his research through lectures, editorials, symposia, videos, and scientific exhibits.
