Stephen Charles Achuff, M.D.Stephen Charles Achuff, M.D. Achuff Johns Hopkins Hospital and School of Medicine Maryland (MD) Cardiology Dr. Stephen Achuff served as the Director of Adult Cardiology Clinical Programs for 20 years at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He now is a full-time cardiologist at the hospital. In addition, since 1975 Dr. Achuff has also served as the David J. Carver Professor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Achuff received his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine. After completing his internship and residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, he served as a fellow in medicine in the cardiovascular division, then as a research fellow with the American Heart Association. In 1974, at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr. Achuff worked as a research fellow and honorary senior registrar in the department of cardiology. He returned to The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he became the Assistant Director of the Adult Cardiac Catherization Laboratory as well as part of the Lipid Research Clinic. He is a member of the Maryland Society of Cardiology and served on the Executive Board for eight years. In 1988, Dr. Achuff was elected the Maryland representative to the Board of Governors of the American College of Cardiology and served in the position until 1991. He has been included in America’s Top Doctors, a publication listing the best in American doctors and hospitals, since 2000. Dr. Achuff has co-authored or authored articles for 71 publications, 25 book and chapter sections.
