Avian Influenza UpdateThere have been 111 reported cases of Avian Influenza (H5N1) in humans which resulted in 75 deaths. While that mortality rate seems high, Dr. David Perlin, PhD, Scientific Director of the Public Health Research Institute, believes it may not reflect the actual number of people infected with the disease who either showed only mild symptoms or did not become apparently ill.
