PinnacleCare moment:
Finding peace of mind after a serious diagnosis
This Member turned to PinnacleCare when her husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer. She shares how her Advocate not only helped them get expedited access to top specialists, but also offered support and encouragement that brought them peace of mind.
We joined PinnacleCare when my husband’s annual physical showed a dramatic jump in his PSA levels. A subsequent biopsy confirmed our fears of prostate cancer. PinnacleCare snapped into gear immediately, meeting with us at our home, collecting medical records, assessing our needs, and providing options for treatment and care. They recommended that we get a second opinion and schedule treatment in one of several recommended “excellent” facilities. We chose Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, a town we know well and one near our children.
The PinnacleCare advocate in Boston bypassed long waiting lists to get us an appointment with the Head of Urology, a doctor who has performed more prostate cancer operations than any other doctor in Boston. She also arranged other appointments should we decide to have radiation instead of surgery. The PinnacleCare advocate even arranged our hotel stay and met us at the hotel to take us to our appointments. She was wonderful, spending time with us at the hospital and with the doctors!
Once my husband had made the decision to have surgery, our PinnacleCare advocate team was able to schedule the operation on an expedited basis. The surgery went according to plan and our PinnacleCare advocate team continues to check up on us over time.
My husband and I wish to thank PinnacleCare and everyone involved. We are delighted with the service and the peace of mind our PinnacleCare advocates provided when we were dealing with this traumatic life event.
