Dr. Saif Usman – Pediatric Sports Injuries
Dr. Usman discusses a variety of injuries that are common in young athletes, including concussions, shoulder pain, stress fractures, and other common overuse syndromes such as Osgood Schlatter disease. He provides insight on the diagnosis, management, and prevention of these injuries from a physician standpoint as well as that of a parent.
Dr. Saif Usman is board certified in sports medicine and family medicine, with a strong interest in concussion management, lower extremity injuries and clinical research. He initially trained for 3 years as a General surgeon before switching to Family Medicine. After completing his Family Medicine residency at Excela Health Latrobe hospital, he went on to do a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Missouri Kansas City.
During his medical career, Dr. Usman has worked with various teams including training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers, team physician for the UMKC Roos Division I program, race physician at the Pittsburgh and Baltimore marathons, along with being team physician for various high schools. Currently, Dr. Usman practices Sports Medicine with MedStar Health in Gaithersburg and Wheaton.
